I finally got the new concordes last week (thanks Wilfried) and had mixed feelings about them. It is amazing to finally see a correctly sized concorde and the shape of the fuselage was great. However I thought the cockpit windows were not quite correct and as the wheels are down on the model surely the nose should be in the down drooping position. I can understand why they didn't do that because I guess the mould would be much harder to make and people are probably more used to the supersonic profile.
Then there are the wheels! Without a doubt the reason why Schuco redid the Concorde mould is because it is still one of the best selling types and I guess they are pushing sales to children with the big wheels. However surely they realise that we, the collectors, exist and it is disappointing for them to do such silly wheels when they'd put the effort into making the A380 undercarriage realistic.
Lastly I never really cared about Concorde. It was operated by soo few airlines that it never featured much in my airport models and the range of liveries was tiny and rather boring. It is a shame they didn't spend time on a more widely used mould.
Anyway I give the Concorde mould a C - could do better. What do you think?
