For ages now I've been trying to find a way to store my custom model Schabaks (of which there are over 70 now) where they don't take up loads of space but are easily accessible and well protected.

Recently as part of my model cataloging I went through all my Schabaks and put them each into their own little plastic bag (if they didn't have one already) and put them back into their box. The custom models obviously don't have boxes so though I could put them into bags they weren't well protected from bashing.

Finally I have found the answer. I was able to get two nice boxes from the local $2 shop and at the base of each I stuck in the plastic protection from models that were originally on the card backing boards rather than in boxes. The rest of the boxes are now taken up by tiers I made by cutting up Hector's old nappy boxes which has enabled me to have four levels in each box with a space for each model. On the top of each box I have stuck the logos of the airlines for the models inside.

How does everyone else store their unboxed schabaks? I have found that pre-made plastic boxes and shelving is rarely the correct sort of size to fit Schabaks well in a way that allows easy access to the models.

Do you store your boxless models the same way?

I would do if I had many but I have less than 10 models without boxes now and I'm always on the lookout for boxes for them

I only have a little amount of boxless models in good condition. All of them are stored in my selfmade display cases.

The models with damaged decals are all stored in one container because there's no use of protecting them anymore.

Yeah I do the same - I have a selection of models that are too damaged that I don't bother protecting and live in a plastic box together.

Lack of boxes indeed is a growing problem. When trading ever more come without or in those horrible blister packs leaving marks on top decal. I never succeeded in finding a right-sized alternative - even the old Schuco and Scabak did not get the measurements correctly (B 747 in a box fitting a DC 10!!!). Even storing two of the same in one of the new larger boxes has not solved my problem. Has anyone ever asked Schabak if they would sell a bunch of boxes - neutral boxes that is? Even I wouild be able to tag them myself. Without print they must cost next to nothing and at least would make storage a lot easier being of the right size and fitting the original. The idea shown is similar to my old shoebox with various layers - works but not very practical.

Beautiful pics
You have made a lot of custom models I have some questions about. I bought some inkjet water decal paper from ebay but the seller donīt explain clearly how to use. When you print on the decal paper you apply some spray or acrillyc and after that you wet in water the printed paper like a 1:144 model ? then you have paste the paper on the mould you apply again another spray or paintbrush acrylic for protecting the finished model?
I`m a litle confuse because all the information is in english, wath varnish did you use for the water decal papers? how did you use?

What I did was print the decals then use Testors Decal Bonder (http://www.testors.com/product/136937/9200/_/Decal_Bonder) (its an aerosol spray) so I could put them in the water without the ink running. I haven't applied any varnish or anything afterwards as I was worried about mucking them up!
