I'm sure several of you who visit the main wings900 forum have seen this already but for those that haven't I will point you to the threads (which I think you can see without being a member except the photos). I did suggest the creator of this airport post on here but he obviously hasn't had the time.

Anyway the user stephcharb has created a unique lego airport in 1:600 that is actually quite impressive considering the lego building materials. He has made a terminal representing part of an airport from a city he has lived in to make a large multi-terminal airport.

As he says:

"In principle, every flight I have ever taken lands here for a stop halfway through the flight.

What I am interested in portraying is the big picture of a airport as it goes through a day. I am interested in the overall look of the airport, different styles of terminal architecture and patterns you see through the day as regards the planes that fly in and out.

I am not looking to recreate a perfect static scene.

I used Lego to build the terminals because they gave me the opportunity to give each terminal its own style, as opposed to what Herpa or someone else dictates. Yes, the ramps are oversized, but I think they still look fine - and varied. Plus many of them move!"

I like the concept even if it produces a rather odd layout. The threads are at:

Nice! Did you see the Finnair MD-11 and the Alitalia A320 (on one of the pictures in the last link)? He seems to be a professional producer of custom models, too!

The Air Asia A320, LACSA, Aeropostal.. he knows how to do it!

Or is he some former Schabak guy who stole the mashine!

We should hire him!

Hi,

Thanks for all the positive comments. I have been too busy to post anything here, what with work and some travel.

The layout is a little quirky, I like to imagine it as a connection airport on an island with little local population, therefore doing away with pesky things like parking lots, rail connections, and drop-off / pick-up ramps.

The custom models are really not that great. I don't use decal paper, just inkjet printing on thin white paper coated with a bit of scotch tape. So far this has worked for me, although I am considering trying real decal paper and sealer for my next ones. Is there anyone out there who can give me tips for this process.

I will make an effort to create a scene with all customs models so you can have a look at what this looks like.

For the time being though, I will focus more on some building projects, I need to fix the tarmac for the reformed Terminal I and build Terminal T (Tegel-inspired).

Stay tuned.

Thanks for joining and sharing your work with us! I tried to do some customs as well but don't use decal paper either. But in this forum, there are some members around who use decal papers and I'm sure they're going to reply soon.

Looking forward to the next pics of your models!

Yes indeed thanks for sharing - you should have been in this forum long ago!! A pleasure to see and enjoy. Remember once trying also to build an airport based on Lego. Never got as far as this and am impressed with the buildings as such, though notice that nor you found an ultimate solution to the problem of over-sized gates. Am told there are Brazilian custom made models ... may be blind, but cannot spot them. Where and why Bazilian??

Someone else thought the TAM 100s were custom, which they are not. What I have in custom Brazilians are TAM 319, 320; VASP 732, 733, AB3; Transbrasil 733; Nordeste F50, 735 and Rio Sul 735 (old and new colours). At one point I will set them all out.

The reason for all this is that I lived in Sao Paulo for 4 years, if you look at Terminal B, in one of the threads, you should recognize Guarulhos.

Oi - Indeed recognized having spent many (too many) hours there - very well done! Please when time show the custom made. Wish I too were able to make some of those listed - envy you the ability. You shall have to make also a GOL at some stage. Pity you do not live here anymore. Would drop by to see your airport and custom made for real!! Thanks for sharing, muito obrigado de Floripa

I have now started posting updates and photos from Cesama Airport on this site but in another thread since my collection is in 1:600. See: http://www.scale600.com/forums/showthread.php?t=429
