View Full Version : Coffee Table Airport
Hi, may I present Coffee Table Airport, although it has been in operation for some years this is the first time I have posted it on Scale600. Let me know what you think.
This table also contains storage for some of my Schuco/Schabak collection.
Note the STOL MAS A300!

Glad you've posted this beauty finally. I really like the idea of putting it inside a table it makes a great display in an environment where it doesn't take up any extra space - marvelous.
Your satellite reminds me of one of Seattle Tacoma's a bit too. I assume it's easy to change the planes around?

wow ! A very good solution of presentation....
Like to take a coffee at yours
But talk to the Tower staff, the DC-10 Caledonian has to wait
at the taxi way until he getīs : "cleared for take off ! "
and by the way : the SR DC-8 is an old Schuco one , right ?

Yes, planes come and go on a regular basis, with storage in under the table drawers it makes it easy.

The SR DC-8 is an interesting one, the model is Schabak 922 per belly stamp but Schabak never made a SR DC-8. I bought it as it is now so I assume someone used old Schuco decals on a Schabak model. Whoever did it did a great job, decals are perfect.
I have talked to others witihn the scale600 network to see if anyone has ever heard of a Schabak SR DC-8 but no one has.

It looks great! Great collection of planes. Where did you get those airport buildings?

Hi, I made the buildings, mostly painted balsa wood with thin artists tape for window outlines. The jet bridges are balsa wrapped with aluminium foil. I did however make a mistake, the 2 jet bridge's on the east side of the satellite terminal go to the right side of the aircraft!

Ok. But so what if they go on the right side. I have seen that happen.

I like the jet bridges! Are the mobile stairs also custom-made?

Yes, all GSE pieces are hand made painted balsa, a time consuming job for stairs/belt loader/baggage train/containers etc.
