I was excited when Herpa brought out their new 1:600 models but it seems that they have lost faith in the scale. I thought they might do well competing with Schuco as their quality is high but they seem to have given up. Does anyone know what's going on -are the just not selling enough? How many people have collected them all?
I started getting them because the moulds are excellent and the liveries cool but have stopped because:
- the boxes are too large and ugly
- they kept on bringing out limited editions I couldn't get hold of
- they're more expensive
and because I have got too many models already!!!
I always think of getting more especially as their A340 mould looks really nice but haven't got around to it.

I wrote them too without any answer yet.
They threw a dozen of new moulds on the market and spent a lot of money for it and then they just released one, two different liveries.
This is just embarrassingly!

Interestingly, this seems to be a part of the "Herpa strategy". The same goes for the 1/200 scale: they have released a variety of aircraft types but the range of airline liveries is quite sparsely. I don't know what's behind all this but it appears to be the typical Herpa policy. Moulds such as the A330-200, A330-300, A300-600, B767-300, B757-200, B757-200WL and B757-300... on all these moulds Herpa released only two, three or a maximum of four different airline liveries over the years. Quite strange.

and don't forget the 1:1000 market. Its very quiet at the moment!

I think that they will also make some money on the 1/600 scale market.
Ik think on behalf of the 1/600 collectors also a lot of airport shops, airlines and hobby stores wanted to sell 1/600.
I was wondering if Schuco was earning a lot of money with the 1/600
than i think that Herpa also started the 1/600 as a competitor.
hoping on better days,

I Love Love Love Herpas 1:600 models
there are amazing and for me much better than all the others
the most thing I love is that they paint the model and they have these small details for example thier 777:300ER have the wing tip and thier A340.500 have a different mold than the A340.300 even thier A330.200 are different and shorter then A330.300 that shcback made
am so sad that they don't make new models anymore would love to see them make A340.600 becuse I didn't like schuco A340.600 the middle section is not right u feel something wroing and the wing and wing tip I don't know looks not that good hope they improve it

Herpa seems to sleep ...
the Schuco A340-6 mould was taken over from former Schabak comp.
...without any improvement ..
have discussed this matter with Schuco x- times .....
I hope that the new 747-4 mould is running well on the market ...
itīs the only chance to hope for more better moulds in the future !

Herpa did a great job with their moulds. The complete A330/340 family, the DC10, 773ER! But Schucos A346 is really a mess!
Herpas problems are the high price and not constant price of the models.
Almost every manufacturer offers the models on the same price level. Gemini, Aeroclassics, Schuco,....
Only Herpa seems to be unable there.

I'm not sure if Herpa-Magic won't release any more 1:600 models. In 2006 they just released two models (the LH A320 and DC-10), so everyone thought it was the end of the story. But then a year later, they offered a variety of new releases again.

So Herpa 1:600 is officially dead? Are they going to continue to produce the existing models or has their production finished completely?

B747-400 (it is not a new model)
The 747-400 is a new model as it is in the new 2008 colours of Qantas compared to the older model which had the gold line, old titling and old kangaroo.
Interesting set (seeing as Schuco are going to do a QF A380) especially considering what Wilfried heard recently. So I guess this is because QF specially asked for the models?
