Hi everybody,

As I annouced to some of you via E-mail, a so-called Family Day took place at Hamburg Finkenwerder last Saturday. It was supposed to be for the families of Airbus employees but in the end, loads of visitors came along to watch and there were long lines of people waiting for every bus or ferry that went there. As I've known some people at Airbus, I was able to catch two tickets for the event and took Kümpser with me.

It was really great, the weather was better than expected, only some short rain showers, but whenever an interesting movement happened on the runway the rain was over again. We walked around the huge assembly halls and aprons until our feet were fed up with it! The departure of the A380 was a highlight and furthermore, all the single-aisle types were displayed there together with a Beluga and some older planes. In the late afternoon, we were able to watch and spot some of these planes leaving Hamburg again.

Anyway, let's go on with some pictures now
Some Airbus narrowbodies on the apron (sorry, I couldn't avoid the fences around the planes).

The A380 prototype No.1 left the event in the early afternoon with two low-passes! What a sight, (F-W)WOW!

In the upper left picture, you can see the first AirFrance A380 in the background.

Although I had spotted the SAS Retrojet A319 OY-KBO at LHR last year, I was very happy to see this one again.

Thanks for the nice pictures Maxi. I wish I'd been there but sadly I had to work on this day. Did they stoppted the production for the time of the "family day"?

I'm sure they did, maybe the production usually doesn't work on Saturdays?

Thanks!
Hopefully the "vessel spotting" session in the north sea was successful?

Maxi, it was more a "seal" spotting action.

Have biked today to FRA and there is a "new" spotting platform in the southwest Zeppelinheim area: behind the pedestrian bridge of the A5 the path is extended about 3m in with and 20 in length - but the FRAPORT construct in front of the platfrom a building with the same height as the platform ....
Let's see in November !

Best wishes

Interesting... Constructing a platform at least means that they are going to keep the place for spotters. That's good news.
The rail ticket for November 7th is already bought. Looking forward to it!
