Hi guys I don't mean to show off but none of my mates care about schabaks so you are the only ones who actually wouldn't mind me showing you my room. I owe Imogen a lot of thanks for letting me takeover the room under our bedroom and use it for Imogenia and displaying my collection.

It's a cool space accessed via a trapdoor in the floor!

Even better a few weeks ago I won an auction on TradeMe (NZ's version of eBay) and picked up this fabulous display case for only $25 (about EUR10). It now houses my new Schucos (top and middle shelves) and some of my custom models (bottom shelf). Also I can store all the boxes in the drawers. I am very pleased by it.

By the way the 747s on the top were spacing out my new cargo area. More on that later!

Wow what a display, I only wish I had the space for this. My model VIE is in many pieces because i cannot fit it all in one area. One day.

Hi Richard, indeed very great impressions. And on Imogenia's runway we can still look at those Douglas propliners for Wilfried on picture No. 4!

Awesome - guess you beat us all with that collection!! Consider taking over Schuco - your production of "custom made" is, if not larger, then certainly more innovative than theirs!!! Congratulations, pity we are not neighbours.

Hi all. There have been some changes in the hobby room of late. We were thinking of moving back to England recently so it did look like it was going to be all packed up and indeed all the schabaks were boxed. However we've not been able to sell the house so the move is off for now and we found out that Imogen, my wife, is pregnant so we're going to stay put a while.

What does that mean? It means the hobby room gets a refit ! The floor in the room was very dodgy and so I had to replace it including the joists which was a serious effort. I am very glad that is over with!! You can see an in-progress picture below. With the floor redone in chipboard rather than the nice old floorboards I have had to add carpet this time. All in all the room is now a lot more weathertight and cosier - plus the floor is now flat!

In fact I've also bought a secondhand sofa to fit in which is ace. Imogenia of course still has pride of place but at the moment the Schabaks are still boxed.

With the baby expected all my models needed to be moved downstairs and now my 1:400 collection is getting quite large (about 200 models). The old glass display case has gone and has been replaced with two bookcases (one purpose built) for the new 1:400s. So now the whole room is dedicated to planes both Schabaks and 1:400s. I am very happy with it and from the sofa I can gaze at the models in comfort .

If people want a closer look at the 1:400s I have posted on the wings900 forum:

Rich, quite some set up....... do not return to the UK it's not big enough for your collection.
Oh to have such a great room, my little cupboard is now locked as the grandchildren have found their way into it.
Congratulations on the forth coming baby, lock that trap door!
Do you actually work?

Best regards and keep up the great work on scale600 re all the airlines/countries.
