I have tried to collect only boxed schabaks and have done a fairly good job but still have 25 without boxes. I would love to be able to get hold of the boxes I am missing. They are:

BA Concorde
Qantas 747-300
Singapore 747-300
Swissair 747-300
Japan Airlines 747-300
Air New Zealand 747-400
Condor 767-300 x2
Condor 757-200
All Nippon L1011
Alia L1011
LTU L1011
SAS DC8

Lufthansa 727
Pan Am 727
Germania 727
Hapag Lloyd 727
Germanwings MD80
Condor 737-300

KLM DC3
SAS DC3

If anyone has any spare then please give me a shout. Also due to my custom model making I also have 19 spare boxes. If anyone needs these then I'm happy to swap (postage to/from NZ for a flattened box should be no more than for a letter). Spare boxes I have are:

KLM 747-400
Eva Air MD11
Thai MD11
Japan Asia DC10
Transaero 767-300
Ansett 767-300

Hi Rich,
it was a pleasure to support you - No Problem !

There is a big lack of orginal boxes for the older Schabak's which has difficult causes: at the marketplaces are much more unboxed aircrafts as "MIB". Some cartons have may be lost or destroyed etc.

Any chance to find somebody (printer) to help us with re-issue of boxes ? - From the new Schabak/Schuco managment we can't expect assistance i think :surprised:

Cheers

Micha

Hey guys!
I don't know if you are still searching for boxes but I went another way to store a/c's that are coming without!

Shortly after my last order @ aircraft-models, Winfried informed me, that a Singapore 744 and the Tigers 742 are without boxes.

Immediatly after his mail I started to take some measurements on an Original box and made a sketch:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=182

I took some time at work  to finish the drawing in PowerPoint, went home and started printing the stuff on white cardboard:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=183

...cutting it out...

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=184

...and folding and taping it together with double-sided tape:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=186

Everything fits perfect!

What do you guys think of it?

Phantastic!

I constructed boxes for the models myself, but without the design work they looked a little boring...

To be honest there are some Ink-Fingerprints  but it was my first attempt and it worked great from the beginning!
All in all it took me about 3 hours from the sketch to the first finished box but now the template for the "Big Ones" is done and I think that I can put more focus on letting the Ink dry (or buy an laser colour printer in addition!!) before starting the folding process.

Well, if anyone of you guys is in need of boxes, maybe I can help!

Very good solution! I buy in the 1980s circa 70
models in the so-called "blister"-Box, because the shop that i frequented in this time had no boxes. It's cumbersome to keep the models without the box.

Bravo Emmi! Those boxes are really great and actually amazing that noone thought of it before. As most of us, I too unforfunately have a number of unboxed models. Either came in those awful blisterpacks or since bought on Ebay unboxed. Pitty, when all my older collection is nicely boxed. The loose models are either in cigarette hard-boxes or for the larger in all sorts of cigar boxes or leftovers from the household none of which makes storing easy - so in short; I for one interested in obtaining some if you decide to start a small production and your pricing right .....

THX Claudio!

Well, If you guys are really interested, I will start the production of custom boxes but not before all printing problems are sorted out!

I'm not happy with the fact that the ink doesn't want to dry on the smooth surface of the cartboard I used for the prototype
I tried "normal" cardboard from a stationary shop on the weekend and beside the fact that my printer has some problems with indenting the thick stuff (pushing helps!!), the look is fine and the ink stays on the cardboard!
BUT: The surface of that normal cardboard is 'rough' and not that smooth as the original is. For that reason the shiny effect is missing :wondering:

I will show you examples of the weekend work this afternoon, so you can see other size boxes!

Stay tuned!

As promised, here we go with one smaller box in Retro-Schabak style:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=190

Here you can see the 'pixalation' from the rough cardboard surface:thinking:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=191

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=192

And another one, also with retro look for the Tigers 742F:

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=193

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=194

http://www.scale600.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=195

Anyone got a hint or advice how to fix the ink on the slippery and slidy surface of the prototype cardboard?!

Otherwise I will have to buy a laser printer :surprised:

Firstly they look as originals and surely there must be someone amongst us knowing how to solve your ink problem. But then some questions - a) how much will you be charging (unassempled for mailing purpose) and b) how can you get hold of the prototype boxes except those you have yourself? Are forum members willing to send you scans of whatever boxes required?

Hm, I don't think that I will get rich, doing that for only some fellows on this board (or elsewhere) so what about 1€ for each box + shipment costs??!!

...b) how can you get hold of the prototype boxes except those you have yourself? Are forum members willing to send you scans of whatever boxes required?
It depends on what you guys would like to get from me!
First possibility is, if you are having an idea, i will let it have an affect on my work and i will show you how it would look like and you say GO or NO and I will change the look to your desires!
Second and thats what you are talking about if i understood your question right is that you would like to have the box in it's original look, when it was sold back that time! I will try to find references (or get them sent by you) and put it all together.
The third way is that you order a box for an A/C and let ME do the complete work, so that you get a beautiful individual item, that will only be custom made for you!

I think that it's only a matter of talking about it!

Recently bought a "Air Force One" (744F-mould). Unfortunatly it came in one of these ugly blue SCHABAK diecast boxes.

The Blister pack is huge and doesn't fit in the normal big boxes, so I started designing a "MEGA- Box" for that A/C.

This time i used Inkjet- "Ultra Photo Paper" (270 g/mē) from Geha instead of the raw cardboard of the earlier attempts and guess what?: IT WORKS!! The ink stays on the paper!

As I also received the "Footballnose" LH744 and the Etihad A380 in the "Diecast- Box", i will try to design

To be honest: the thickness of my photo paper is a bit less than the original box cardboard is, but nevertheless provides very good stability!

I'm very satisfied and you can judge for yourself:

Dear friends,

today I got the first bunch of CSA Boxes from Emmi74656,

to serve each model as a single possibility of the CSA set.

If you like to buy boxes from him, do it !!!
Perfect work, even if the boxes not so strong like originals,
but very useful to replace your blister packs in your collection.

and 1 Euro each is very good and may cover only carton and colours
to print it.

All moulds original from old Schabak,
so good IL, TU and 737-5 as well as a good DC-3,
only the A320 is the new Schuco mould as already known from
other printed models, like Condor, Swiss, Egypt and so on...

if you like...
yes ..
as I already mentioned b4, I wait of self made boxes from Emmi74656
to place all on my site ..
I expect ready to offer within the next 7 days ...

So then no need to buy the A320 again, if you prefer single ones.
