If you don't have any informations about the airports measurments download google earth. Visit the airport and use the measure tool to get the informations you need.
I've seen that the Termnial is round so I recommend card board for the construction.

For terminals I have had success using moulded plastic I have got from various kinds of packaging. Especially interesting are the kind of plastic formed front, cardboard backed items - often tools but sometimes I have also used food containers. If you are having trouble go to your local supermarket or DIY store and see what is available.
In terms of paint colours I use the small Oil based Humbrol paints. No32 for dark tarmac and a there are lots of lighter greys. Since I usually use either chipboard or mdf for the base I leave the wood colour for concrete surfaces.
For piers I usually find wood offcuts of various shapes and sizes and for the airbridges it is balsa wood. Your local model shop will most likely have lots of different shapes of balsa wood. I suggest looking around your house for interesting things. I was able to use the ends of wooden forks for the lighting pylons.
Have fun and keep us updated with progress. One small warning is that making actual model airports usually requires far more space than making your own up as the real architects don't cater for modellers with small space!
